Or something like that.

[He hadn't put up a fuss, although maybe he probably should have, all things considered. But for McGillis, too, this was the ideal arrangement—while he'd have no issue dealing with living with a bunch of strangers in a cramped space, there was simply no need with Gaelio around. (It was nice to not have to pretend once in a while.) There were problems with that, too, of course, but... Well, it was the least worst option, for both of them, he thought. And so it was.

The room is even more plain than where they stayed in Legion World, but that's fine, too. It's not a problem, really. Just a bit boring. There isn't really much to do to get settled, but McGillis doesn't make himself comfortable just yet. He stands while he speaks.]

Desperate times, I suppose. [He says it lightly, though truthfully, he didn't particularly disagree with the decision... He didn't really feel especially passionate either way, however. They were only guests in this world, after all, and the most important thing at this point was just— surviving.] But I agree, it is a shame. I wouldn't have minded spending more time there to see what else it had to offer.

Perhaps. Had we waited too long, however, there's a good chance we might not have had a say at all. We could have been forced out of Legion World instead, or worse. At least in this case, we were ready for it.

[It allowed them to prepare, although there was only so much they could do in that regard. Perhaps it would have been more difficult if it was their own world... Or perhaps not. McGillis would likely still feel very much the same. He didn't care for wasting resources, either, but he was also not used to having a lot. To him, this just wasn't the worst case scenario.]

Ideally, it would've been nice to force the enemy out and retain Legion World, somehow. But being able to escape on our own terms is not without its benefits, either, few though they may be.

I wonder that as well. As it is now, we're in no position to retaliate, and there's no telling when that will change. We aren't just low on resources, but we're also shorthanded. Things certainly don't look good for us.

[He doesn't sound too concerned, though, despite how serious the situation is. It wasn't ideal, and there was nothing he wanted more than to be able to just go home and move on, but he was confident in his own ability to adapt, too. Whatever happened, they'd (he'd) manage.]

I'm alright, but thank you. [He smiles, even as he turns him down, appreciating Gaelio's thoughtfulness.] I think I'm going to have a look around first. I'll go a little later.

[It was very rare that McGillis turned down his requests, especially regarding things like this. They'd always done a lot together and hid very little, so even if the circumstances were strange for him, McGillis had gotten back into the habit of doing so. But this matter was slightly more complicated—more complicated than just having to get used to having a friend again, anyway.

It's a casual-but-polite rejection, even if he isn't happy about doing it.]

Of course. Though, please don't feel as though you need to rush for my sake.

[Not that he's trying to get rid of him or anything. (If he'd wanted to do that, he could've just killed him—) He just means that he doesn't want to trouble him.

It probably would be better for them to look around together, just like they had when they'd arrived in this world, but it was a convenient excuse to avoid accompanying him. He'll wait a moment after Gaelio leaves before he leaves the room, too.]

[Isn't he always man of the hour to Gaelio—

Even though there isn't much to see on the outpost (or at least, nowhere near as much as there'd been on Legion World), McGillis is still out. It may have been a convenient excuse, but that didn't mean it wasn't something that actually needed to be done, and again, McGillis wasn't one to waste things, especially opportunities. He might find him after he exits the hangar, which is about as impressive as expected (aka not very). Still, this was all good knowledge to have.]

[Well, that was fast, but McGillis doesn't think too much of it—between sonic showers and Gaelio's general desire to be around him, it wasn't particularly unusual. Still, he smiles at his friend's greeting and answers nonchalantly.]

Rather unexciting, but I suppose that's to be expected. [Honestly, it was still strange to him that a world with this level of technology didn't have the sort of weaponry they were used to... Strange and kind of boring but also unfortunate. But such was life.] Are you feeling any better?
